He has joined Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (Malay Chamber of Business Malaysia) as a Business Development Executive in 1995.
Moving forward in year 2000 he has been appointed by The State Government Of Negeri Sembilan as The Special
Officer to EXCO MEMBER of Negeri Sembilan.
Then he also joined various different corporate company such as Lion Group, Luxor Group and Gagasan Badan Ekonomi Melayu Malaysia as Liason Officer for The State of Negeri Sembilan.

Leader of the Strain-Stress Analysis and Acoustic Emission Technology in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Responsible to introduce the Strain-Stress technology in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The first person in Southeast Asia to obtain the Level 1 and Level 2 Strain-Stress Analysis Certification. Areas of specialisation are integrity monitoring, analysis and assessment for engineering structures and components. Utilises the acoustic emission (AE) technique, strain-stress analysis technology, air-borne sound and vibration analysis for integrity monitoring, analysis and assessment. Affiliated with several professional bodies including Malaysian Society of Non Destructive Testing, Vibration Institute, USA, Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, Fellow of Welding Institute of Malaysia. One of the world leader in the area of acoustic emission (AE) technique for lubrication monitoring and fatigue assessment. Has introduced 3 new empirical equations to relate AE and viscosity. Responsible for the establishment of Acoustic Emission Technical Group (AETG), a technical group under Malaysian Society of Non Destructive Testing (MSNT). He is currently the chairman of the AETG and Board of Director for MSNT. Has been appointed as a technical consultant for UKM Pakarunding Sdn Bhd, UKM since 1992. In addition, he has worked as a part time consultant and technology advisor to several engineering and technology companies including MR Technology, Significant Technology, Sound and Vibration Technology, Daya Concept Engineering and Fuhrend Engineering. Has been involved in the real engineering consultancy projects in Malaysia and International since 1992 and has vast and extensive experience in conducting integrity monitoring, analysis and assessment projects after being involved in more than 70 projects. Undergoing intensive works for integrity monitoring, analysis and assessment with Barumas Perdana Indonesia, SVT Engineering Consultants Australia, Longlands College UK, British Steel UK, Tioxide Europe Limited UK and Update International USA. Has involved in many research projects utilising AE technique, Strain-Stress technology, and sound and vibration analysis with the total accumulated research grant of approximately RM 7.0 millions since the year 2000.

He was appointed as the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Malaysian Refining Company Sdn. Bhd. (MRC) on March 1, 2020. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, United States of America (USA) and Master of Science in Asset Management from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. Khairol completed his INSEAD Senior Management Development Program in 2005.
With over 32 years in the company, Khairol has played many technical and leadership roles in various PETRONAS businesses. He started his career as a Project Engineer for the Petronas Second Refinery, Phase-1 (PSR-1) in April, 1989 before moving on to be Maintenance Lead at the same refinery. He then moved to Petronas Corporate Office in April 2004 to be Senior Manager, Maintenance Management Group, Petronas Technical Services Division. In the ensuing years, he held various key senior management positions and portfolios at corporate and operating units responsible for Group Plant Project Studies, Plant Operations, Centralized Services, Group Technical Solutions at Petronas Chemicals Methanol Labuan, MRC and Project Delivery & Technology (PD&T) from 2006-2020, prior to his current position.
Among his notable achievements include the development and groupwide deployment of various Petronas Management Systems for Asset Reliability & Integrity, Materials Management and Project Management. While at PD&T, he successfully led the CAPEX Cost Compression Initiatives and transformation of Petronas Technical Standards (PTS) to make them more aligned and competitive with the industry. He also led Petronas Technical Team in the development and adoption of Joint Industry Project 33 (JIP-33) for the standardization of equipment specifications in collaboration with 12 other oil majors under the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), based in London.
